My Gay Cousin Asked Me To Write This

A few months ago, my homosexual cousin asked me to write a blog about this. At the time, he and his then-boyfriend were attending gay services with a homosexual pastor. My cousin felt that it was wrong, but said the opposing views had him confused. He wanted to know what the bible really says about homosexuality. So cousin, the following bible verses are all from the New Testament, after Jesus died on the cross and resurrected.

For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. (‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭26-28‬ ESV)

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭9-10‬ ESV)

We know that the law is not meant for a righteous person, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and irreverent, for those who kill their fathers and mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral and homosexuals, for kidnappers, liars, perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching based on the glorious gospel of the blessed God … (‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭9-11‬ HCSB)

In the same way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them committed sexual immorality and practiced perversions, just as angels did, and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. (‭Jude‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ HCSB)

Homosexuality is a sin, and when Jesus died on the cross and then resurrected from the grave, He defeated all sin.

The bible teaches that those who are “born again,” who deny themselves—their feelings and opinions—and choose to follow Jesus, these people receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is Christ’s very Spirit. He sends Himself in Spirit form into your heart. When His Spirit is united with your heart, your desires naturally begin to change. 500 years before Jesus promised He would send the Holy Spirit to believers after His resurrection, God told His people through His prophet Ezekiel:

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. (‭Ezekiel‬ ‭36‬:‭26-27‬ ESV)

And in the book of Jeremiah, God says:

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?” (‭Jeremiah‬ ‭32‬:‭27‬ ESV)

Whether it’s drug addiction, pornography addiction, depression, premarital sex, money addiction, prostitution, compulsive lying, stealing; whatever your sin is, God’s Spirit is stronger. His love is greater. His fiery passion for you pinned Him to a cross and kept Him dead for three days. His love for us rose Him from the grave. His love for us crucified all of our sin. The bible says the sins of the world, the iniquity of us all, was laid upon Him. He died for it, but then conquered it when He rose again. He sends the same Spirit that resurrected Him from death into our hearts. Christ Himself lives in us, giving us the power to likewise crucify our sin and overcome it, raising us to new life. That is why I know people who once struggled with homosexuality and now are completely delivered from it. Jesus changed their heart, because He’s powerful enough to. His love conquers our sin, it consumes it and incinerates it.

In Christ, there is no desire we cannot defeat. Our sinfulness is not stronger and never will be stronger than His Spirit. If we simply surrender those desires to Him and just focus on knowing and loving Him, He takes care of our sins. We’ll look back and see we no longer want what we once wanted. We are free to walk in the good works God created us to walk in. We are free to know our true selves: a son or daughter of God, cherished and loved, made for eternal glory.

Anyone can be set free to be who God made them to be. It’s just up to us to decide if we want Him or our sin. Forgiveness or condemnation. Light or darkness. Freedom or chains. Life or death. Heaven or hell.

Precious cousin, I pray you choose Life, I pray you choose Love, I pray you choose Jesus.

I Believe In Jesus, But I Don’t Follow Him

My dear children, I write this letter to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone sins, we have Jesus Christ to help us. He always did what was right, so he is able to defend us before God the Father. Jesus is the way our sins are taken away. And he is the way all people can have their sins taken away too. If we obey what God has told us to do, then we are sure that we know him. If we say we know God but do not obey his commands, we are lying. The truth is not in us. But when we obey God’s teaching, his love is truly working in us. This is how we know that we are living in him. If we say we live in God, we must live the way Jesus lived. (1 John 2:1-6 ERV)

Too many say they believe in Christ, but then they don’t obey His commands. Then, when a Christian lovingly points this out as being false religion, that we need to repent and follow Jesus, many times the person gets angry and uses—way out of context—the verse, “Do not judge.”

But it’s not us simply stating our opinion on their sinful lifestyle, it’s us pleading God’s Word, His commands, His opinion of their lifestyle that His light might shine on their darkness so they will see His truth and stop sinning.

I’ve had dearly loved friends who truly believe they’re all right with Jesus, but yet, they are not obeying His commands. They do not follow His teachings, but when I point out to them a Scripture that clearly condemns what they’re practicing, they tell me, “Only God can judge me.”

It’s really sad. I love them, and I know God does too, but He is holy, and cannot stand sinful behavior. He hates it so much the only way in His sight it could ever be forgiven is if someone completely perfect without a drop of sin in them dies in our place. Sin is so serious to God it requires a blood sacrifice. How can we deceive ourselves into thinking we can just believe Jesus is God’s Son, then keep on sinning and not be punished for trampling His blood sacrifice?

If we decide to continue sinning after we have learned the truth, then there is no other sacrifice that will take away sins. If we continue sinning, all that is left for us is a fearful time of waiting for the judgment and the angry fire that will destroy those who live against God. Whoever refused to obey the Law of Moses was found guilty from the testimony given by two or three witnesses. Such people were not forgiven. They were killed. So think how much more punishment people deserve who show their hate for the Son of God—people who show they have no respect for the blood sacrifice that began the new agreement and once made them holy or who insult the Spirit of God’s grace. We know that God said, “I will punish people for the wrongs they do; I will repay them.” And he also said, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a terrible thing to face punishment from the living God. (Hebrews 10:26-31 ERV)

So there you have it, from the Word of God. Will you dismiss this entire blog as my opinion or with a flippant, “Don’t judge me,” or will you let God’s truth penetrate your heart because He loves you and doesn’t want you to be destroyed; He simply wants you to repent and follow Him.

Will you believe whatever sin you’re indulging in is worth going to hell for? Or will you trust God’s Word which says God’s plans for you are good, pleasing, acceptable and perfect?

Will you trust that you know what’s best for you, that this temporary pleasure is worth losing Jesus and eternal life for, or will you trust that God knows what’s best for you and follow His good plans for your life?

The choice is yours.

If you die for Christ, so what?

What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare His own Son but offered Him up for us all; how will He not also with Him grant us everything? Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the One who justifies. Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the One who died, but even more, has been raised; He also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or anguish or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: Because of You we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord! (Romans 8:31-39)

Beloved, don’t give up. Don’t throw in the towel just yet. Do you see what great and awesome promises we have—better yet, what great and awesome love we have?

God lavishes all the love we need and more to be satisfied every second of the day. His love is more than enough. If you find yourself low in fuel for Christ, or looking after other things, you have forgotten His magnificent love for you.

His eyes are on you even now. He’s always thinking about you. He has exciting plans for you. Sure, there’s going to be trials on the way to heaven. The devil doesn’t want you to get there and he sure doesn’t want you bringing others along.

But every single thing Satan has planned against you, God wants to and can use for good—as long as you trust Him and endure. “He who endures till the end will be saved.” Your momentary affliction is nothing in light of the eternal joy that awaits you. What is even 50 years of tribulation in comparison to eternity with Christ our Loving Lord? The very second you cross over from this life to the next and see Jesus face to face every tear you ever shed will be worth it. I’m willing to bet you’d even wish you suffered more for the glorious King who now stands before you with holes in His hands, and eyes of blazing fire that consume you with love from a simple glance. When you see Him who was beaten and crucified for you, you’re going to wish you were likewise martyred for Him.

So whatever fiery trial you’re going through, always remember:

“For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, so that you won’t grow weary and lose heart. In struggling against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.”(Hebrews 12:3, 4)

And even if you have, is there anyone more worthy to die for?

Katy Perry: Please Come Home

Dear Kate Hudson,

As I write this, tears blur my vision and fall from my eyes. I don’t know the number of hairs on your head, I’ve never even seen you in person, yet here I am, crying for you. I can’t imagine how Your Creator, the very One who fashioned you in your mother’s womb, who gave you your beautiful big blue eyes, and that incredible voice, the One who wrote every day of your life before a single one of them came to be—I can’t imagine how He must weep for you.

Do you remember the shortest verse in the Bible? “Jesus wept.”

The only way I can rationalize your turning away from so Great a Love is that you must not have truly known Him. How could it be possible to forsake the most perfect, good, amazing Being in the Universe? The Perfect Man who left His heavenly home to live on this dark earth for thirty-three long years and then be brutally beaten and die, suffering hell—eternal separation from God—for all mankind. For you.

How must He feel when He sees what has happened to your heart? How lost you must be, how blind to the fact that Satan laughs because he sees your destruction. He lifts people up only to drag them down. For he hates humans with a perfect hatred. After all, God made us in His very image, and through Christ He offers us all ever Satan wanted—the throne.

Christians are a royal priesthood. Sons and daughters of the Supreme King. He offers us a crown, and the ability to rule alongside Him. This is what Satan wanted, to be exalted, but instead, he was cast down, thrown from heaven, and his end is eternal destruction because of his rebellion.

Do you not see? You may have fame and riches here on earth, but would you truly cast yourself into eternal fire for things that can be taken from you at any second, whenever the Giver and Taker of life decides your time is up?

You must not understand what you’re doing. Satan is the father of all lies. He can be very convincing. But I pray you see the Truth. I pray you understand how God’s wrath abides on the disobedient. How Satan’s demons trembled at the presence of Christ, and how He rules over all. There is no escaping God’s judgement. Do you wish to face Him as Father, or as Sword-bearer?

I’m pleading with you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to your Creator. You can forsake death and destruction and be embraced by a Love worth living for.

You may never read this, but know that I am praying for you. But more importantly, know that Jesus truly does love you. And there is no one who will ever come an inch close to loving you as deeply as He does.

I pray you come back home.

I Just Got Electrocuted By God

Romans 6-8 has me really contemplating my walk with Jesus.

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” (Romans 8:1-14 NLT)

A few things jump out and just shock my heart with electrifying words of truth that have somehow bypassed my mind and have thus darkened areas of my heart from the light of Truth.

If I belong to Jesus, the power of His very own Spirit has *freed* me from the power of sin.

Paul goes on to explain that in Christ who was sacrificed for us, God declared an end to sin’s control over our lives, and that we are no longer obligated to do what our sinful nature urges us to do.

This got me thinking: if the all-powerful Spirit of Christ lives in me, why am I still “struggling” with selfishness, impatience, and rudeness?

Then the Truth of God’s Word dawned: once you’re in Christ, sin is a choice. Every time I’m rude to my husband or impatient, it’s because I am choosing to be rather than choosing to take a moment when I’m tested to pray for strength to overcome and be led by the Spirit. As a Christian, because of what Jesus did, my, “old sinful self was crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in my life,” and I am, “no longer a slave to sin.” For when I, “died with Christ I was set free from the power of sin. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.” So I, “also should consider myself to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.”(Romans 6:6, 7, 10, 11 NLT)

I literally should not be sinning, or “struggling” with sin. If anything, I should be battling temptation through the Spirit’s power, but by no means should I be giving in to it, and based on Scripture, even as believers, there are sins that “lead to death.” I am not merely saved by grace so I can keep on doing what I please. I am commanded to please God and that means to stop sinning. If I “spit upon His cross” and abuse His grace, I forfeit His sacrifice for me and I will go to hell.

This revelation caused me to receive another answered prayer: God, help me fear You more.

Holiness is not to be taken lightly. As a Christian, I have no excuse to sin. My only excuse is literally, I chose to do it rather than depend on God and obey His will.

I’m sharing this with my brothers and sisters because I know of others who are in sin and yet claim to be a Christian. They, like me, probably don’t realize they are on a path to hell and are not tapping into the power Christ provides to defeat sin. They also probably focus on the second part of what Christ’s death and resurrection accomplished for them which is salvation from hell, but they are forgetting of unaware of the first part which is salvation from sin.

God’s Word has an extremely high standard for Christians. So let us stop compromising and take our sanctification seriously. God gives us the power to conquer sin, so let us begin walking in that truth. If you desire sin more than holiness before our Lord, then choose sin and know that it will result in your spiritual death, your eternal destruction. I pray you please choose rightly.

“For the grace of God has appeared with salvation for all people, instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works.” (Titus 2:11-15)

“And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near. For if we deliberately sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries.”(Hebrews 10:24-27)

Talk About Lighting the World On Fire

It’s simple: Christ came to earth to live a perfect, sinless life so that He can die on the cross in our rightful place, paying the price we deserve for sinning against God, for breaking His commandments, so that if we simply trust that Christ died in our place, but then rose again three days later, we will receive His Holy Spirit, the power to say no to sin, and eternal life.

We’ve all lied, or wanted something that wasn’t ours, or taken something that wasn’t ours. We’ve broken God’s commands, and are guilty before Him because of these crimes. None of us are good enough for heaven, only God Himself is good enough. He knew this, and that is why He sent His only Son, God in human flesh, to be our sacrificial lamb.

Before Christ came, God had a system set-up for the Jews that whenever they sinned, they needed a blood sacrifice to be forgiven. A price needed to be paid. But God promised that one day, someone would come, take the sins of the world, and die for us all, becoming a perfect sacrifice once and for all.

Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies of this perfect Savior, written by several different men, hundreds and hundreds of years before His birth.

He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one gets to the Father except through Him.

He loves us more than anyone on this planet. He died for me, He died for you. He tasted death and hell so that we wouldn’t have to, and instead experience eternity with Him, in the presence of Love forever. He is the ultimate Hero. Every one of His commands are given from love, and for our complete benefit. He is good, everything He speaks is good.

When your earthly father forbids you from doing certain things, like clubbing or dating, he’s doing it to protect you because he loves you and wants what’s best for you. How much more does the perfect God, who knows every single outcome before it happens, not only want what’s best for us, but know what’s best for us?

I’ve been there, and everything in my life that brought me temporary happiness eventually left me hurting or wanting more. Relationships, alcohol, friends, popularity, acting, none of it satisfied the deep hole in my heart that cried out for love. I was blessed enough to have both parents around and knew they greatly loved me, but their love wasn’t enough. So I sought relationships, but then no boyfriend could love me the way I desired to be loved. I gave them my whole heart, but they couldn’t take care of it.

Finally, I gave Jesus my whole heart. And in literally six days, He healed it from the brokenness caused by my ex. He filled me with joy, just like He promised in the book of John. He gave Me purpose, and He transformed my heart, and continues to—almost five years later.

I know, beyond a shadow of doubt, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died in my place and rose from the dead because He loves me perfectly. My heart is at rest, it no longer searches for love. It has found Love itself. This peace, this indescribable joy, I must share it with you all because it’s available to any and everyone that’s willing, to anyone who knows life’s empty and that they aren’t holy, to those who aren’t self-righteous but know they’ve messed up, and want to be forgiven by God and desire Him. Heaven is just a bonus, though I’d say salvation from hell is incredibly important.

Jesus taught that it was a literal place “where the fire is not quenched and their worm does not die.” I don’t think anyone wants to spend eternity in that place of eternal destruction.

Why did God make hell? Because He needed a place to cast out and destroy sin. Sin cannot be in His perfect presence, hence Him throwing Satan out of heaven when he rebelled. God can’t have people living in His presence who are going to rise up against Him and those with Him. They need to be destroyed. And the Bible is clear that even if you don’t consciously know it, if you are not following Christ, you’re following Satan. All rebellion, all sin is “of the devil.” He was the first to rebel against God, delusional enough to think he can be like his Creator.

Then God in His goodness decides, “Lucifer, you wanted to be like me? Watch this.” God then creates man in “His image” and gives them authority over all the earth, and, knowing they’re going to rebel just like Satan, He plans to send His perfect Son so that those who trust in Him will literally sit on His throne, receive a crown, His Holy Spirit, His glory, complete knowledge, basically, we will share all that is Christ’s and receive His inheritance because we trusted in Him. That’s why satan hates us so much guys. Because he, although a powerful, stunningly beautiful angel who stood in God’s presence, can never be like Him, but we helpless, weak, human beings can receive all of Christ’s glory. We can obtain what Satan always wanted so he’s enraged against us, knowing he will spend eternity in hell, thus he wants to bring down as many of us humans as possible to burn and be destroyed with him.

He’s consumed with hatred for us, so it blows my mind that people make light of this enemy while others like Lady Gaga act like following him is beneficial. They are clueless. They do not see that their fate, if they choose to continue on their path, is the same as his. They will not escape but by Jesus Christ, the only One who can save us from sin and hell.

Free-will.
The choice is ours.
